Message From Jim Dean, Dean Motorsports

Dear Fans,

As you know we are not in agreement with the handicap format at Motor Mile Speedway and wanted to confirm with sorrow that we are not going to be participating in the event this Saturday night because of the existing circumstances.  Philip has anguished over this decision and we apologize for this late notification to our fans. In hindsight, we were overly optimistic that this was going to be resolved.  We will be taking the weekend off to reorganize and give Philip and myself an opportunity to create a new schedule for the remainder of the season.  We are fortunate to have had your support and hope you all will continue to support us at the local tracks and on our agonizing decision.  We hope that you will continue to support MMS, arguably the best short track in the country, we just refuse to race under a handicapped format.  The competition is too good, and the risk on our equipment and Philip is too great.  We will be saddened to have the green flag drop and not be battling for the win, however, all of us here at Dean Motorsports will be wishing our competitors good fortune.  I will post as early as possible next week about our future schedule.

Thanks,

Jim Dean

Dissapointing Weekend at Motor Mile

With the addition of 50 pounds of weight on the car, Phil struggled to maintain his pole position in the first of the twin 100's on May 1st, 2010.  He managed to battle to the inside and outside of eventual winner, Wayne Ramsey.  In the second race, Phil drew second for starting position and took the lead on the first lap.  Unfortunately, Wayne Ramsey over drove turn three on lap 8 causing Phil's #26 to cut a left rear tire putting the car 2 laps down and finishing 18th.

Second Win of 2010

Philip made the second win of the season look easy.  He led all 150 laps of the late model stock car feature race at Motor Mile Speedway on Saturday April 17, 2010.

During the first lap the 47 of Mike Looney attempted to pass Philip but couldn't pull it off.  Phil went on to maintain the lead through several restarts.  "This was a much better racecar than our first race at Motor Mile. Denny Hamlin is going to be way impressed with the sister car he'll be driving in the Denny Hamlin Foundation race on April 29th", Phil said after the race. "The Townsend-Oliver chassis rivals the fastest car I've ever driven at this speedway."

First Win of 2010!

Philip won the first race of 2010 at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, VA. He started the race on the pole with a qualifying time of 15.75. Rusty Skewes inched closer and closer to Philip during the first 20 laps or so. After that Philip pulled away and led the entire 150 laps.

After the race Philip has this to say, "Townsend-Oliver chassis' are one for one. Our setup wasn't perfect, but with no race laps on this new chassis, we were a lot closer then we should've been."

Thanks to all the fans who came out to support us today, it was good to see familiar faces in Victory Lane!
